The Beer Garden is Cut Off!
4-23-26:
An alcohol service update today. If you’ve visited before you may have enjoyed one of our “to-go” beers in a mason jar with a lid out on the patio space. The patio has never officially been part of the brewery’s leased premises and never licensed to the brewery.
Originally it belonged to Der Hinterhof, the Backyard BBQ, which was the restaurant and bar that used to operate next to us. We miss the old Hof, such a great time! Then during COVID after LOGE had bought the property, they were doing a major remodel and so the patio wasn’t licensed to anyone and a lot of blind eyes were turned during COVID. Once LOGE started operations we came to a friendly sharing arrangement. The patio was licensed to them, but their understanding of their Hotel license was that our patrons could use the space for seating and so they allowed it. The brewery of course has always ensured that any beverages leaving the brewery itself were in closed to-go containers (Growlers, of various sizes) to cover what the brewery’s license allows. We sold growlers-to-go and then guests left the brewery and sat on LOGE’s patio and became LOGE’s responsibility.
However, now that the hospital has purchased the building and the patio is now not licensed for alcohol service and the hospital is very concerned about potential liability, they have let us know that the previous arrangement of allowing brewery patrons to enjoy the patio with beverages cannot continue at this time. So for now no alcohol consumption on the patio, instead it’s time to squeeze back into the coziest bar in the State and rub elbows with strangers and make new friends!
The hopeful news here is that we are trying to negotiate with the hospital to officially add the patio to our lease for the remainder of our current lease so that we can use it in all its’ glory and bring music and entertainment back to the stage. The hospital’s legal team is investigating what they are able to do based on their being a public non-profit organization and having numerous restrictions on their activities. We meet with them next Friday the 1st of May to see what progress may have been made in regards. Knock on wood and cross your fingers that we can gain the patio officially!
